Tour: Advanced searching
Case-sensitivity
Suppose you were interested in references to the programming language BASIC. The results of a standard search for the term 'BASIC' will consist mainly of instances of the ordinary word 'basic'. On the Advanced Search page, entering 'BASIC' and checking the box labelled 'Case-sensitive searching' will result in only instances of 'BASIC' being matched, and none of 'Basic' or 'basic'.
