Context display

Some entries are very long, which may be because the word they treat has many senses, a very complex history, or many compounds and derivatives.

To help navigate around such entries, you can use the map that appears to the left of the entry when the Map button in the bottom frame is clicked.

This is a vertical list of links to all the main numbered senses of the entry, which also serves to give an overview of the structure of the entry.

Clicking on anything in this map automatically takes you to the matching place in the entry.

To jump directly to sense 3 of the entry for cushion, just click on the 3 in the sense map, and see the entry display move to that position:

This is useful when you are referred by text elsewhere in the Dictionary to a particular sense of an entry, or when you want to return quickly to a point of interest in a long entry.
