James McCracken

James McCracken, Principal Editor, leaves the OED to take up a post as Project Manager of Oxford's Trade Dictionaries, where he will be involved in exploring the electronic possibilities of our sister Dictionaries, notably the New Oxford Dictionary of English. James, who has a DPhil in Irish history, joined the OED revision team in 1996; he has been Principal Editor in charge of one of the OED's three revision groups since 1999. We wish him all the best.

Bill Trumble

We are delighted to welcome back Bill Trumble, one of the most experienced lexicographers working on any of the Oxford dictionaries, to work on the OED after an absence of 21 years! Bill started work on the Supplement to the OED in 1975, and then went on to work on several of our other dictionaries, including the New Shorter OED (work on a new edition of which has just been completed under his editorship) and the New Oxford Dictionary of English, of which he was Chief Science Editor.
