Interesting antedatings

Revision of the entries in the December OED Online update has revealed an earlier origin than previously thought for many words, including:

• metabolize (antedated to 1831 from 1887)
• metallic (a1425 from 1567)
• metamorphosis (1447 from 1533)
• metaplasm (pre-1100 from 1432)
• meteorology (1563 from 1620)
• method (a1425 from 1541)
• micron (1879 from 1885)
