Appeals list
Our first appeals list produced some good antedatings, notably 'bicameralism' (1963 from 1966), which led to an earlier 1917 example, and 'maternalistic' (1941 from 1961). We hope the following might also be filled out and improved on:
- afferently adv. [pre-1968 evidence required]
- blank v. (also blanked ppl. a.) = ignored, ostracized
- bodice-ripper n. (explicit romantic novel) [pre-1981]
- happy-clappy n. and adj. (of evangelical Christians) [pre-1990]
- listen up v. (freq. imperative) = pay attention [pre-1970]
