Search with wildcards

Aim: to search for terms beginning with basalt

  1. Type basalt* into the Find Word box.

  2. Click [Perform Find Word search] to start the search.

  3. The results list is displayed. The results include words such as basaltiform and basaltoid, as well as the compounds basalt rock and basalt-building, which occur in the main entry basalt.

You could also use one or more wildcards within a term. For example, typing b?g?t???? finds bagatelle, begetting, bigotedly, etc.
